Biosafety Team

• Microbiologists with research and clinical bench experience in university, hospital, private industry and government laboratories.
• Invited speakers and biosafety instructors for the American Biological Safety Association, Eagleson Institute, Emory University and the U.S. Department of Defense.
• Conducted hands-on safety training in A/BSL-2, A/BSL-3 and BSL-4 laboratories.
• Reviewed, approved, and inspected military, university, public health, and private laboratories registered under the CDC Select Agent Program; served as a Responsible Official for a large research university.
• Served as biosafety advisors for the national Laboratory Response Network.
• Reviewed and evaluated laboratory design documents prior to construction to advise on BMBL safety and federal regulatory security compliance.
• Conducted laboratory training, laboratory inspections, and BSL-3 design evaluation for military and international facilities in Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand), the Middle East (Egypt), South America (Brazil), Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya), the South Pacific (Tahiti) and the Caribbean (Puerto Rico).
• Authors and editors who have helped define the laboratory practices and construction criteria for A/BSL-1, A/BSL-2, A/BSL-3, and BSL-4 in past and current editions of the BMBL.
• Trained USDA laboratory inspectors.
• Conducted incident reviews following laboratory accidents.
